I know this is OT here...

but security is important for everyone.

Question: Why does the MS antivirus scanner that you can install with MSN
messenger live so slow.. it takes minutes before it releases a transfered
file!

One word:

BETA.

Steve N.

Not in this case:

its a very stable beta .. this came from a finished product from
GIANT

it was stable since beta 1

Trivia: Beta is the B letter in Greek and also means 2 since letters and
numbers where the same in ancient Greek.

As are the bugs. Stability and performance are different measures.

Except it's pronounced as a 'V' in Greek. You need to simulate an
English 'B' sound in greek with 'mp'. (mu + pi)

There are bugs with released programs and windows and linux and MAC os
and any program that ever existed.

or should I say mpugs?

;-)

You are illogical Mr Bones.

Wrong definitions does not mean that the program itself has a bug. It is the
definitions that are wrong, but they can be updated and should.

If not, then putting bad gas in your car means your car should be trashed.
In that case send your car to me.. I will happily replace the gas and use
it.

Norton - Symantic is poison to the pc

Frankly, if I had something from Symantec installed in a moment of
carelessness, I'd want Microsoft to detect and remove it. Especially when
it is a Symantec product that uses a root kit.

It's not really beta, in the sense of a development version.

It's MS BETA - Bought EveryThing Around

Windows defender beta 2.0

NEVER install BETA ware on PCs you need to keep running.

"Windows Defender (Beta 2) is a free program that helps protect your
computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats"

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Then I'd suggest that you contact the microsoft corporation and inform
them that they dont understand what BETA means and advise them to change
the wording on their webpages.

This product Has been around for along time. I agree withthe second
guy. You never can have enough spyware programs/....

Who's "Mr Bones"?

And the definitions came from whom? Hint: it wasn't Exxon.

Car makers don't put gas in their cars and, if they did, they wouldn't
put bad gas in them. Your analogy is full of holes.

Fact: Defender is a BETA and that means it ain't done yet.

Fact: if you put Defender on a work station, you're an idiot but MS will
thank you for testing their software without getting paid and won't do
anything to help you if it trashes your computer.

Fact: once it's out of BETA, it won't be free anymore.

Fact, once Windows Defender is out of Beta, it will still be free.
Do not confuse Windows Defender with One Care which will be a subscription
service and includes Windows Defender as one of its components.
Many do confuse the two and erroneously come to the same wrong conclusion
you did.

It will be free for XP users or will one have to *pay* for Vista to get
the final version?
