I switched from 98 to XP and have some old Windows Cardfile recipee files I
would like to open. Can anyone, please tell me what can open them?

Copy cardfile.exe from the Windows 98 cdrom to the Windows
XP hard drive. Create a program item for it and use it. Runs
just fine in Windows XP. I am still using Windows card files
that had originated with Windows 3.1.
