Yes, indeed. This is the big question. Ot to paraphrase it slightly, why
hasn't this hotfix been issued to the general populace via Windows Update?

M

because not everyone has the problem.
I have NONE with calendar.

because not everyone has the problem.
I have NONE with calendar.

I've seen this problem in every installation for both Home Premium and Vista
Ultimate. If you're not seeing the problem, then I'd suggest that you've
never used the reminders feature for when Calendar isn't running.

have 3 months of appointments scheduled and get reminders all the time.
calendar is not running so far as I can tell.
nothing in task manager.

have been using it since it first appeared in beta with NO problems.

the reminders are coming from scheduled tasks.

Ok thanks for the info Mikey. That is odd then.

Remains a bit of a mystery then why this problem occurs.

there was a bug in the entry in scheduled tasks that caused the reminders to fail.

check under Scheduled Tasks, Windows Calendar and the ACTIONS tab to insure the

/Reminder
is at the end of the line.

believe that is where the error was at.

No, I don't think so. The "/reminder" was there on the 'pre-patch' version
too.

Just compared 2 reminder tasks, one from a patched machine and the other
from an unpatched machine.

The scheduled tasks both seem to be set up identically in terms of their
Task Scheduler settings - ie the settings on the General, Conditions,
Triggers Settings tabs also look the same.

Good idea, though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually there IS one minor difference

In the patched version the task path is
C:\Program Files\Windows Calendar\wincal.exe

and on the unpatched it's
C:\Program Files\Windows Calendar\WinCal.exe

Note the capitilization of WinCal.exe

M

do not believe that would make a difference. but if you think it will help to change it.
try it.

You're right. It would make no difference. Only really mentioned it for the
record.

Anyhow got the patch, so all is well :)

Thanks for your thoughts.

not sure if anything helped or not, but hope your calendar is working as good as mine.

Yeah, it's pretty nifty. Simple and intuitive. I'm using it every day now.
