Windows Boot Problem

When starting my PC the cpu starts beeping every few seconds and a message
briefly flashes on the screen "Alert! Previous attempts to boot this system
have failed at checkpoint Size". This PC was unused for several months at a
relative's house. When I attempted to start it, this problem arose. Could a
power surge have damaged the motherboard? I had everything plugged into a
surge protector except the phone line. There was a severe thunderstorm here
several months ago which did knock out phone service. Thanks for any help!

try
-get in the BIOS by pressing Del key or whatever for your PC as soon as you
power up
- once you are in, press F10

that will usually clear up problem from shutting down the PC while it was
starting up

IF that dos not clear the problem, then you have to take a close look inside
the BIOS settings, such as the IDE drive
For new PC the IDE drive settign should be auto or LBA, older PC or dirves,
you have to look up the old record.

if the PC has been unplugged for a long time and the PC is beyond 3 year
old, the Battery for the CMOS may need replacement. how would we konw? if
the PC does not keep dat time after unplugged

Good luck
