Is awful...Will ntbackup.msi from XP work if installed on a Vista machine?

Not the one from XP, but there is an available version for vista
downloadable from Microsoft. Unfortunately it only performs the restore
part, not the backup.
 
Interesting. I tried several things along those lines, but nothing but
failure. Of course I am using Vista - 64

I have Vista Ultimate/32 and it works fine like any other backup
program.

Yes it is.

No idea, as I've never tried - and have no intention of trying to
install it either...!

However, although not free, this is superb for both 32-bit and
64-bit Vista:
