Windows Backup Facility copying much more than requested

I'm trying to run WBF and chose "Everyone's...". It started copying all
manner of folders that had nothing to do with the two sets of My Documents
folders, Favorites, Desktop and Cookies. (Some of the many irrelevant paths
I saw flashing by included software under Program Files and stuff I had out
on the My Network Places shared areas.) There's no way I need to back up 5.5
GB of "various". (The 4 GB flash drive I bought should be more than enough
for what's here that cannot be re-created from system disks and online.)
P.S. If you need additional info regarding my system specifics, let me know.

Use the File Transfer Wizard from the xp cd (other options),or run from
tools.
Open the FTW,select the data for it to collect, collect in a new folder, you
created,
once its thru, move it to a cd..Also,to collect data, set FTW as "old pc",to
run the
data to new pc,etc, set FTW to "new pc"...

I guess your suggestion would work, but the reason I'm actually playing
around with Backup is to figure out a way for family members to backup their
own creations, downloads, email, etc with as little effort as possible.

Apparently this selection (within Backup) results in Windows copying
everything that wasn't there at, or changed since, installation? I may have
to resort to something with a good review (and free) from Download.com.

I realize that, whatever method I choose, there will be some significant
effort in helping determine what may be scattered beyond My Documents on
their PC(s), but the hope is to set it up to make it as effortless for them
as possible.

In any case, thanks for the reply!
