Hi there,

I have a friend's machine here and he added the background pic from a CD in
drive D:.

I rebuilt his hard drive and on the old backup drive, when I do a search for
222..jpg ( which is the background pic), it lists it ONLY as being in drive
D:. Yet there is no CD in the drive D:.

The pic is on the background, so it exists somewhere, but WHERE?

Any ideas?

Gordon

Are both the "rebuilt" and old backup drive installed? If so, one must
be D: and the CD drive would be E:.
Have you searched both drives?
Are you sure he didn't change it to a .bmp?

If it's used as the background and is listed in Display properties >
Desktop, it should be in C:\Windows.

Gordon,

The picture is converted to a BMP file and stored in the location posted by
Keith Miller. Alternately, you can view the path to the image file (.BMP),
from the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Type in Start, Run:

reg query "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v Wallpaper

The BMP file name & Path should be listed in the command prompt.

Hi Brian,

I did a search of the old hard drive for the 222.jpg picture and it only
lists it as being in the D: drive, WITHOUT any CD in it... No, there was no
other hard drive in there.

So, I'm thinking that my friend used his CD to get the picture 222.jpg as a
background and somehow it's cached somewhere in there.... WHERE is the
question?

Gordon
