Windows Aero is the new hardware-based graphical user interface in Windows Vista.
It requires a DirectX 9 compatible graphics processor, with a Windows Display Driver
Model (WDDM) driver, and a minimum of 128 MB of Video RAM.
Open Vista's Help and Support and type AERO in the search box,
then hit your ENTER key for troubleshooting suggestions.

A comment for you - if you are running Aero already, do the same. If you are
not, you can find out how to turn it on but it isn't an "in your face" sort
of thing so if it is automatically on for some people and isn't obvious,
then doing what you said when it is running doesn't actually help. Of course
you could attempt to see if you are using 3D flip but I think that you can
have aero without flip cant you? If so that would confuse the issue more.
Yep. You have to go to Personalise and then turn on Aero from somewhere in
there.
