windows activation

Activated XP 5 months ago,worked great until now.Every
time XP starts now ,it requests XP to be activated.After
activation some of XP programs dont respond and the
computer restarts.Tried doing a repair from the
installation disk,still no better.Tried starting in safe
mode but error message comes up XP not activated,restart
in nomal mode and activate.

The activation information is kept in two files - wpa.dbl and wpa.bak in
windows\system 32 and it sounds to me as if you have caught some very
nasty malware that is deleting or corrupting these and also is
interfering with program launch. I think this is a case to bite the
bullet, back up all data, and do a complete clean reinstall - making
certain that you delete the present partition and format the new one on
the way
