Windows Activation Help

my dad tried to upgrade his old laptop w/ windows xp pro,
but never activated it. it's long past it's 30 day trial
and there are a few documents on the computer which are
very valuable.

when i start up teh laptop, it takes me to teh login
screen and asks me if i want to activate or start
windows. when i press activate, it takes me back to the
login screen and when i try to start windows, it takes me
back to the login.

so how can i:

1. retreive the documents?
2. activate the license?

Try safe mode with networking. Hit F8 at system startup.

Hi,

Ok, since that ain't happening, I'd suggest installing WinXP to a new folder
and taking ownership of any files that he wants to recover. The procedure is
