Windows 2000 won't shutdown

I recently installed a DVD burner and since then my
Windows 2000 OS will not shutdown. I have to physically
remove power during the shutdown/reboot sequence. I have
checked the DVD software, talked to Memorex (mfg. of the
drive, and my taskmanager reflects nothing running just
before I try to shutdown. I need some help at finding what
is preventing my system from shutting down properly. Any
ideas? Help?
