People, please help...

When i start computer it comes up disk error and then on next line it says,
replace and strike any key when ready. Its something like that. But when i
press any key it just keeps coming up. There is no floppy in the disk drive
and no cds in either. i know my broter installed a spyware program on
computer and so if i can just get back in, i can unistall what he put on and
hopefully problem solved. The brother knows a fair bit about computers but
don't know how to get this going. Please help...

We need more details. How far do you get in the bootup cycle? What is the exact
error message?

And...do you have a Windows 2000 Pro CD or some sort of OEM restore disc?

The story is, at start up of computer, it now appears
Non-System or disk error
Replace and strike any key when ready

Thats the first thing that appears on screen.
Operating system is windows 2000 professional. Its on a network with another
computer but its disconnected now and standing alone.

Yeah Eric, its me again. COSTELLO / SPEEDOMC.
Anyway, i have microsoft small business server 2000 which includes microsoft
windows 2000 and 3 cds. have the 25 character code. There is nothing
important saved on machine, as i can reinstall programs. so will that work..

You may be able to repair it using the Recovery Console which can be accessed
after booting from the Windows 2000 CD. To boot from the CD you'll have to
change the boot sequence in the BIOS so that the CD-ROM boots before the HDD.

After entering the RC, enter these commands:

fixboot

and then:

fixmbr

See this article for more help with the RC:
