I play a cd in my computer at work and the sound is great. But when I try
listening to radio stations online it sounds like the chipmunks. Why? I asked
my IT department and they don't even know why. They checked my computer
several times and they couldn't find the problem. They even replaced the
sound card. Could anybody help please?

Try changing the sound card drivers either to older or newer ones

Try altering the Audio Hardware acceleration level
Control Panel > Sounds & Mutilmedia > Audio tab > Playback Advanced
button > Performance tab > Harware Acceleration slider.

(by reducing hardware acceleration to none, you will lose any 5.1 audio
support your sound card has)

If your using RealPlayer to listen to online radio stations then:

Change the Performance settings in the Player.

Select Preferences from the Options menu.
Click the Performance tab.
Clice the Settings button.
Click either "Disable 16-bit sound" or "Disable custom sampling rates"
to modify the way your player and sound card interface. You may need to
play with the settings to see which sounds best.

Thank you very much Steve for your recommendations...tried them, didn't work.
I use Windows Media Player 7.1 to access radio stations online. I went to the
Tools tab, Options, Performance and fiddled around there and didn't changed
anything. I wonder if I just have a bad sound card. How do you change the
sound card driver? I think I already did it, but I want to make sure. Any
other suggestions?
