Windows 2000 server does not display properties page or dialog box

Sam

I found Nachi worm (dllhost...) in my Windows 2000 Server (with
service pack 2) and then I removed it using downloaded tools.

Then I installed "Q815021_W2K_sp4_x86_EN.EXE" and
"Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe" from Microsoft, hoping to improve
protection against worms.

But I found that all the properties pages and dialog boxes cannot be
displayed
(e.g. Event view->Properties, Internet Explorer->Edit->Find). I cannot
even go into Add/Remove Program to remove the above patches.

Questions:
Is the problem related to the above patches, or Nachi Worm, or
Hackers? And how can I fix the problem?

Thank you in advance
Regards
Sam

If you're running a server then I assume that it performs
an important task.

If this server was infected by a virus then it must be
considered compromised. If it was my machine then
I would rebuild it. I would then install a good virus scanner
and a robust firewall. I simply would not trust a server
whose files and/or registry got corrupted at some stage.

Did you try the registry...?
HKLM ->Software ->Microsoft ->Windows ->Current
Version ->Uninstall

If you want to see all your hardware and software that is on
the computer
Do this...
Go to and download
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Install and use it...
It will tell you all the Patches applied also.
