Windows 2000 Professional File & Print Sharing with existing Windows 95 LAN

I would appreciate some direction with regard to adding
File and Print Sharing between a new Windows 2000
Professional O/S PC and two existing File and Print
Sharing Windows 95 O/S PCs which use a hub. I have
established the W2KP O/S PC NIC H/W connectivity with the
existing hub. But, the W2KP O/S PC is unable to see the
W95 O/S PC's and vice versa.

Thank you for your assistance!

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

Marina,

Thank you for replying to my post! Allow me to follow up:

1. All 3 PC's share the same Workgroup name;
2. File & Print Sharing is loaded;
3. Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled; and
4. With regard to your comments on User Accounts, there
are two existing W95 O/S PC's already File and Print
Sharing through a hub. I am attempting to add a W2KPro
O/S PC to the LAN. The W95 PC's do not see the W2KPro PC
and vice versa. Do I REALLY need to have the W95 PC's
Users' Login Names setup as User Accounts on the W2KPro PC
just for the machines to "see" eachother? Or, are you
referring to the ability of the W95 PC's users' ability
to "login" to the W2KPro PC?
5. In researching this matter, it has come to my attention
that I may need to assign specific IP addresses and a
common Subnet Mask to the W95 PC's. Would you have any
knowledge about this?

Thank you again for replying to my original post and for
your continued assistance! Suggestion from other readers
are also welcomed!!

Hi John,

Yes, you need to create the W95-useraccounts on the W2K. Have you got Client
For Microsoft Networks loaded as well?
