I was wondering what the limitations are with window 2000
and ram. If having 1g of ram a waste? What's too much?

4gig is the limit for Pro. 1 gig may be a waste or not, depends on
whether you use it.

Default configuration for Win2k is to create swap space. Any Windows OS
will swap out anything not actively being used.
Illiminating the swap on NT based systems tends to make some applications
choke and die.
Illiminating the swap, however, forces the system to rely ONLY on real
memory.
