Windows 2000 Pro and RAID 1?

I've searched high and low and have been getting mixed information on whether
it's possibe to set up a software RAID 1 and how?

I have a PowerEdge SC340 running Win2K Pro and I have both SATA disks (80G
each) set as "Type" - "Dynamic", but the "add mirror" context menu item is
greyed out. Am I missing something?

I beleive I read that the "Layout" has to be something other than "Simple".
If so, how do I change?

Never mind, I found my answer. This type of system will only work for a
remote setup. Besides, I beginning to think a hardware RAID would be best
anyway.

Hardware RAID is ALWAYS better! In the past couple of years
(especially since the introduction of SATA drives) RAID controllers
have dropped dramatically in cost. You can find a decent RAID
controller for your SATA drives for <$60. Using a hardware RAID, your
mirror will be very fast (RAID 1) I don't know about RAID-ing a
dynamic disk, though. I've never tried that.

If your controller supports 4 (or more) channels you will be able to
expand your RAID without adding much more in cost (the drives now are
pretty cheap.)

Absolutely.
