Windows 2000 Permissions Needed for NT4 Style Trusts?

I need to establish an NT4 style trust with a separate domain on our network
that is unfortunately not part of our Active Directory forest. What
Windows 2000 permissions do I need to grant on each domain controller, to
the other domain's administrator or domain controllers, for the trust to a)
be established correctly; b) function correctly.

When I tried to add a trust just now, I got a dialog saying that I must be
permitted on the foreign domain controller to establish trusts. I could
not locate any Group Policy setting that corresponded directly to that
privilege.

Each side of the trust needs to be defined by a Domain Admin
of that side. It only needs to be done once in each domain, not
per controller. All should be pretty simple to find in the docs for
the version of OS involved.
