Windows 2000 NT Server Edition

I recently purchased a used IBM with Windows 2000 NT
Server Edition. (Apparently it had been part of a
networked system.) However, I am using it as a standalone
computer and occassionally I get the error message "do not
have administrative authority." How can I correct this?
Thanks.

Firstly I am _amazed_ that the seller did not "secure wipe" the disk.
Criminally stupid of them IMO.

Did you also purchase the W2K Server license with the hardware? If
you did, one would hope you got the media with it. Just format and
install anew. If you did not buy the license then you are not
legally entitled to use the software.

Having said all that you might look at
http://lists.gpick.com/pages/Password_Tools.htm
or do other online (Google perhaps) search for the various password
recovery tools available.
