Windows 2000 Locks on boot-up

Hi,

My Windows 2000 machine locks on start-up. It get to the
windows 2000 start-up screen and then just freezes. My
only option at this point is to shut the power off. This
PC is being used as a Point of Sale device.

If I go into set-up and delete select a reset
configuration data option, that fixes the problem and it
will start-up. This fix will only last for a couple of
startups and the problem returns. This machine has plenty
of disk space and runs just fine once we get it to boot-up.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix this problem?

Best Regards,

Doug

If the machine freezes and has no mouse pointer movement
then you probably have an interrupt conflict. I would check
the BIOS to ensure that the interrupts are set in line with
your various adapters: Plug & Play for new adapters, fixed
interrupts for legacy adapters. I would also remove all
non-essential adapters (sound, network) in order to home
in on the cause.

What exactly do you mean with this statement:
If I go into set-up and delete select a reset
configuration data option, that fixes the problem.

Can your rephrase this?
