window xp reformat and install

I want to reformat my hd , have os winxp professional installed. I inserted
the win xp cd to to go to reformat, but the os window opens up . how to
open the cd rom to view format. pls help

What problem have you got with XP that needs a format? Have a look at the

Change your BIOS to BOOT from the CD.
