Window XP Home - Access to remote network?

J

John Burnett

Hello,
Simple question, I think. I need to be able to access my
employer's server from home. Will I be able to do this
using Windows XP Home Edition or do I need to have XP
Professional. I simply need to be able to get onto the
server and open, close, and create files and folders. I
currently do this using a computer loaded with Windows
2000 Professional Edition and a VPN dialer. Can I just
install the VPN dialer on a Windows XP Home Edition
machine? Thanks, John

XP home edition comes with a VPN dialer by default. You can definitely use
it to dial into the VPN server.

I am able to connect via VPN to my office Windows 2003 server with my WindowsXP Home pc, but cannot view the drives, and when I try to map them, it gives me a "network path could not be found" error message. Any suggestions?
