window xp hibernation

i apply the hibernation on my desktop but then it boots again it doesnt take
it... but i have noticed when i restart and apply again the hibernation it
takes it.. any idea as to why ? and why do i have to restart inorder for it
to take the settings?

yes it is enabled and the issue is as i stated above when i apply
hibernation it doesnt take it meaning its supposed to go into the hiber mode
...but what i see that it restarts again with no hibernation... so when i
make a restart again and apply hibernation it does hibernate this time ???
any idea as to why i have to to a restart every time for the hibernation to
take effect

Ah! First, the phrase "apply hibernation" and "enable hibernation" are
synonymous. What you are meaning to say is that when you attempt to
hibernate the computer after using it for some time it will not go into
hibernation, BUT right after a restart it will go into hibernation
properly. So, is there any error messages? If so you should post them.
If there are NO error messages, then perhaps you have some mal-ware
installed that is interferring and preventing the hibernation process,
and it must be removed.

ok bob let me put it this way when i want to leave my pc for sometime i click
on the hibernate what happens then is that it hibernates for a sec and then
it reloads from hibernation by itself meaning that it doesnt actually go into
hibernation...
i restart my pc and i click on hibernation again then i find that it works
with hibernation ...so there is my problem..... i get no error message at all
....

Then it DOES go into hibernation, BUT it comes right back out. There is
not a problem with hibernation, but with some software you are running
or allowed to run. It may be mal-ware or some software set to update
itself. You may make a note of all the processes in Task manager right
after a reboot(when the computer stays hibernated) and compare it to the
list of processes running when the computer will not stay in hibernation.
