Window Vista Screen Saver

On my HP notebook, I selected my screen saver for 3 minutes on my Window Vista.
I clicked ok than apply.

No screen saver to be found after 3 minutes. What am I missing here?

You always should click "Apply", then, "OK"

As a general rule, that's not true. There is an occasional exception,
but the general distinction between "OK" and "Apply" is that

1. "Apply" applies the change and leaves the dialog box open.

2. "OK" applies the change and closes the dialog box.

There is normally no requirement to click "Apply" before "OK." It
should make no difference.

Ken, total rubbish!
I disagree completely with you.

It is your prerogative to disagree with me any time you want.
Nevertheless, I'll stand by what I say. It's the Windows standard. I
can't guarantee that every dialog box applies the standard properly,
but the vast majority do.

It's very easy to verify that what I say is correct. A little testing
on your part would demonstrate it.

And I stand by what I say!
I have a computer build and repair business; and I go by MY experience.

Why would I waste my time clicking OK, to see if it will work(lol),
then have to go back and redo: apply, then OK.
Time is MONEY!

That's fine with me.

Sticking with misinformation costs money too.

But your choice. I won't argue with you. I don't care what you believe
and I'm done with this thread.

You must do some custom explorer setups then because clicking OK to
APPLY the action and close the dialogue box has always worked on my
standard installs. But by all means click two buttons and take more time
if you want, it's your time and money.

Just ONE example of where you MUST press the Apply button before pressing the OK
button:

When pressing the Unblock button on a downloaded file, you MUST press the Apply
button before pressing the OK button, or the unblock will NOT be saved or
applied.

Also, on my system at least, when I change multiple event sounds, I MUST press
the Apply button on each event change or NONE of the changes will be saved.

Click, click is better than having to come back, and REDO it!

Paniolo,

I don't know if you got an answer.

Here's some ideas why your screen saver doesn't work.

The screen saver may not activate or will exit intermittently for several
reasons:
•Power management is enabled and configured to activate before the screen
saver.
•If the computer has a tuner card, the television tuner may be active.
•An anti-virus utility is currently running an active scan.
•Third-party wireless keyboards and mice may affect screen saver performance.
•A background application is preventing the screen saver from activating.
•Ensure all available video driver and software updates have been downloaded
and installed..
•Ensure all available operating system patches and updates have been
downloaded and installed..
