Thank you for posting.
From your description I understand that you are unable to install the
windows update due to KB839645 update.
Please follow the suggestion below to resolve the issue.
Step 1: Download the full update pack from the following link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/0/3/d03971cd-ae3d-49ab-bec2-44ce391
1fa76/WindowsXP-KB839645-x86-enu.exe
Step 2: Perform a system check:
a. Click Start, click Run, input "SFC /PURGECACHE" (without quotation
marks) and press Enter. (Note: There is a space in the middle of the
command.)
b. Click Start, click Run, input "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotation marks)
and press Enter.
c. The System File Check will then start, which will repair system files.
(We need to insert the Windows XP installation CD during the procedure.)
Step 3: Install KB839645 in Safe Mode:
a. Restart the computer.
b. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
c. Choose Safe Mode, and press Enter.
d. Try to install KB839645 again.
Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform
differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary.
Step 4: Restart the system in normal mode and perform Windows update.
Now please check whether the Windows update succeeds this time.
