Window System File missing?

Don't know where I lost it but Monday I tried to restart and got a message
"missing system file "did not write it down"".

Now I am afraid to reboot. Any ideas?

Start/Run, type in "SFC /SCANNOW" without quotes, when you're prompted
for XP CD, insert it.
