hi, I have a 14 month old Fujitsu Lifebook p1120 that I bought from the
company via their website which came with XP pro installed & no CD.
There was a partition on the HD with the "Factory Image" in a
drivequest backup file with the OS activated already. I suffered 2 bad
sectors on my HD which crashed windows and sent me to the blue screen
of death on all attempts to recover. I could not boot from the
drivequest floppies to reload the image- had to departition the drive
before I could repair it. I lost my drive image Win XP. I still have
the code on the sticker on the bottom of the Lifebook, but what can I
do (short of purchasing an entirely new copy of XP)?
TIA
Nate

You'll need to contact Fujitsu support and order
their Windows XP recovery CD designed for your
Fujitsu Lifebook.

You can purchase a recovery CD by calling the technical
support line on 1-800-838-5487 (U.S.)

Carey, thanks loads. I called and after 3 transfers they hooked me up
with a senior tech person who is having the cd sent to me for nothing
and he even helped me with an SD driver conflict with my p1500d. You
and Fujitsu are solid.

"One" must not be familiar with how some pc & laptop manufacturers
preconfigure systems for retail sale- not offering a CD to accompany
their systems. "one" could choose not to buy that device, for sure,
but there were no equitable alternatives comperatively priced at that
time (at this time as well, come to think of it) so, c'est la vie.

They're sending you a CD, yes? You now have what Plato recommended, yes?

We'll see when it gets here, but looks like I will... more than a year
after the orrigonal purchase. The tech-dude who said he'd try to get
it shipped to me sans cost did so after he saw I've purchased more than
4 notebook computers from them in the past 7 years and claimed that
because of my continued support for the company... bla, bla, bla... but
I don't know if a first time buyer of a p1120 (still for sale at a good
price IMO) could get the CD without a cost- I didn't ask, or with a
shipped unit (they still don't offer one included with a sale, even in
the customizadle options).

See, it wasn't that hard. One should always demand a cd with the system
they buy, even if it didn't come with it at when you bought it.

Whether or not you get a cd with your system, one still needs to acquire
one. It's better to acquire it before your hard drives crashes and you
lose your hidden partition with the os backup on it.
