After a recent crash Windows advised me that there may be a memory prob and
pointed towards downloading the Diagnostic tool. I did this -selected
install on cd - then copied the iso file to the cd - then rebooted setting
the first start up device to the cd drive. However XP Pro just boots as
normal - no sign of the diagnostics. Any suggestions?

Ron,

You cannot copy an ISO file to a compact disc and have it work as expected.

An ISO is a diskimage that needs to be burned to a CD in a way that it
re-creates the original disk--boot sector and all.

Different programs have different ways of creating disks from ISO images, so
without knowing what you have it's difficult to tell you how to burn the
image...Windows XP by itself does not support burning ISO images

However, there is an ISO power toy, available here...

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

This will allow you to right click on the image, and choose "burn iso to CD"

It's in beta, but it works pretty well.

Addendum---

Make sure you download the correct version!

beta 2 is for SP2 only.

get v1 if you are not using sp2 yet

Thanks Gerryf
I've just downloaded and used the isorecorder software - worked perfectly.
Thanks again!
