win98 upgrade

upgraded win 98 to win 2000 professional. system hangs at
startup. will not even boot into safe mode. however can
boot to 98. any suggestions besides fresh install
 
Normally, if your system won't boot while upgrading an OS
it's due to improper drivers for the hardware. Try to go
into setup and disable some of the integrated functions
(like sound or network) and then retry safe mode. If you
can still boot into Win 98 your system hasn't completed
the upgrade either. It probably will have to reboot
before it loads and conmfigures the rest of the files.
