Win2kPro to Win2kServer

We are a small company that uses Win2000 Prof workstation
as a file server. Is it possible to upgrade this to
Win2000 Server w/o losing all the users & group policies?
Will these existing users be carried out to Win2k Server's
Active Directory? If not, how can I copy it?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

You're unfortunately going to need to recreate all this stuff by hand. I do
not know of a way to transfer it to the new machine.

policies to a new domain controller and demote the
existing?

Yep.

Just promote the new DC into the domain using DCPromo, and everything will
be replicated automatically. You'll also need to transfer the FSMOs to the
new box, and mark it a global catalog as well.
