Win2K server boot discs

I have a computer that I will be installing Win2K Server
on, and during the installation using the boot disks, the
installion cannot see the cdroms that are installed in
the computer.

Note: using a Win98SE boot disk, I can see the cdroms.

How can I load Win2K server without loading Win98 first
since setup.exe cannot be run in "DOS Mode"?

If your CD-Rom is not bootable, you should first check the W2K hardware
compatibility List (HCL) and also consider updating the bios in order to
ascertain the hardware is W2K compatible and that the bios is W2K
compatible. This will give you a fighting chance in that all required
drivers for those devices that W2K does not provide internal support for be
collected.

You can run an upgrade check from Win98 by executing "winnt32
/checkupgradeonly" which is found in the W2K CD's I386 directory. Does both
a software and hardware compatibility check. Don't bother installing W2K if
you prefer not to carry out W2K compatibility verification on the system.
W2K is designed to function with W2K compatible hardware. So the effort is
well worth the time.

While winnt32 is used to launch a W2K installation from a 32 bit OS, winnt
is used to the same in DOS, albeit with a few less features (winnt /? to see
switches). It also is found in I386 directory on CD-Rom.
