Win2K Pro with Service Pack 3. Every 16 seconds something
is sending a 16 byte packet which, if the system is
connected to the Internet, keeps the connection open.

It does not initiate the dialler.

Have checked running processes against another W2K system
and there doesn't appear to be anything different.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Jackie

Have you got the ms03-026 installed?
Go to windows update. You'll have to get the SP4 anyway.

Install a personal firewall, even a free one. By default most will
alert you of an attempt to acces the internet and by what
application/process. That should help you track it down. If you don't need
the personal firewall because of a hardware firewall at the perimiter, then
you can disable or uninstall it when done. -- Steve
