A client tries to logon to his Win2k Pro machine, but gets a message that
that profile/account is missing or corrupted.
The system then logs on with the default account, but obviously all programs
previously installed under his account are not available.
Any way of recovering this account?

Many thanks

Programs are NOT installed for individual users; they are installed for all
users. I suggest you do this:

1. Reboot the PC.
2. Log on as administrator.
3. Rename the bad profile folder to something else. It's in c:\documents and
settings\DQuail.
4. Get the user to log on. A new profile folder will be created.
5. Copy the user's shortcuts from the renamed to the newly created folder.

You may need to restore the user's favourites, email, desktop colours etc.
