Is that right? I thought a new install of Windows 2000 was around 750MB. Your pagefile.sys on the root is one big space hog. You can change that to a different drive or reduce your installed RAM to 64MB. I think you can go as low as 32MB but not sure.
how abt when u update it with the service packs ? will it crash if i put no
swap file ?

No such thing as no swap file. That is not what I said. I said you can change the swap file to a different drive other than the drive the OS is installed on OR you can remove your installed RAM down to 64MB maybe 32.
