Win2k Advanced Server not seeing all the RAM that's in the server

I have 4 HP (Compaq) Proliant ML570's running Win2k Advanced Server SP2.
When the system boot's the BIOS reports 7GB RAM. When in Windows, if I look
at Control Panel --> System it reports only 3.7GB RAM. I installed some
benchmarking and reporting software and that only showed 3.7Gb RAM, although
it also showed the physical layout of the DIMMs, which added up to 7GB.

All 16 DIMM slots are populated. There are 4x 256MB + 12x 512MB. All
DIMM's are Compaq and 100MHz.

Why is Windows only seeing around half my RAM size?

Have you looked in F10 at bootup and see what that says. That is equivelant
to a BIOS.

You need to enable PAE, search for this word here on
support.microsoft.com for more info. Not many
applications currently support this though. 4GB is the
usual max limit for Win2k.
