We had a consultant come in and load some stuff and ever since we cannot run
IE6 or view services, a lot of wierd things. I have run a Norton virus scan
but cannot find anything. The event log is seeing:

FAULTING APPLICATION IEXPLORE.EXE, version 6.0.3790.0, faulting module
unknown, verion 0.0.0.0, fault address
0x000000000

ESENT
svchost (1008). The database engine stopped.

Reporting queued error: faluting application explorer.exe, verions
6.0.3790.0, faulting module unknown.

The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted.

Faluting application HelpCtre.exe, version 5.2.3790.0, faulting module
unkno, version.

svchost (1008) The database engine 5.02.3790.0000 started.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thx, Larry

Your 1st problem was to allow the consultant to touch your server.
You never let ANYONE touch your servers. You setup a test lab for them to
use, never live, which I'm assuming it is.

You also have no clue what he/she did. Thats your 2nd godly mistake.

and 3rd, why are you asking us? Why haven't you asked the consultant to
come back?

Hope you have a good disaster recovery plan
