Two problems listed both ocurred at same time, system run fine before that
for over six months.
During startup Windows aborts startup because following file is missing or
corrupted. Misssing file is C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\isapnp.sys.

Error mess states to boot from Windows installlation CD a press "r" at first
screen and use repair function to replace file using file in CD. But, all
that gives is A: command line prompt with not instruction typing "Help" or
"/?" you the message command not recignised.

There is a second problem, also, BIOS and RAID Configuration rouitine saw
RAID Array is in tacked, but Windows Installation CD, if you try to just auto
repair or reinstall states there is no HD on the system. Seagate Tools finds
HD's, but states they are not Seagated drives when they are and if you run
Seagate Tools Gernic test it fails 3 of the four drives. Promise Contoller
RAID lists all four drive by part number and states the array is functional.

OS: Windows XP Pro 32-Bit, SP2 and latest up dates
Motherboard: ASUS A8V
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200+

For the first issue see this KB article, and use the expand command:

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307654

I can get into recovery console, but few o the command work.
It appears that the Recovery Console can not detect any hard drives or
partions on the computer. I can read dir and move to floppy and CD, but any
command related to the RAID Array CHKDSK return the errror " The volume
appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems.".

But, if I try to do a clean install, Windoews installation can't see the any
drives either at the same time the Promise RAID Array configuration routine
is saying the array in intack and function, also, the BIOS ID's the Array and
lists it as the boot drive.

With the system in this state I can not even delete everything and start
over with a clean install.

HELP!!!!!!

Been quite a few posts lately about problems installing on SATA drives
and RAID. Unfortunately I have no experience with them so I can't
recommend solutions. Maybe someone else will jump in. You might want
to post to some of the hardware groups and repost to this group as a new
post if you don't get any response in a day or two.
