Win XP SP2 Beta Firewall

V

Varun

I just got XP SP 2 beta and wanted to test fire the new
firewall. I get an error message saying that I have
turned off Firewall in Control Panel -> Sevices. When I
try to enable it, it says that certain other sevices upon
which this is dependant have been disabled. I have
fiddled with the services panel before and have disabled
other sevces. I would much appreciate it if anyone can
tell me which services i need to enable to get firewall
workin.

There's a dependencies tab in the Services console as well. You can always
look there.

Anyway, its Application Layer Gateway service, Network Connections, Network
Location Awareness (NLA) and Remote Access Connection Manager.

I'm getting that off a SP1a machine but I don't think it changed in SP2.
You should look on your system though ;)

Varun, I have the same problem with my XP Home Version. The firewall worked fine originally, of lately it refuses to activate and gives a "Dependency Did Not Start" message. The "Remote Connection Control Manager" is a dependent listed under the Services and it was not started when I checked. When I attempt to start it I get an "Error 5: Access Denied" message. And there I am stuck......
