Win XP slow to log on

Bob

I have a network with approximately 100 computers running
Windows XP Pro, that log into the domain daily. When the
user first logs onto the domain, it takes anywhere from
thiry seconds to a coule minutes. Is there a fix for
this or something I can change to make the logon process
faster? Also, this does not happen with every system, I
would say about 75% of users experience this problem.

Sounds like it's just the fact that different users are
logging on to the same computer. When you log on to the
same computer, it will load up faster because a lot of
the preferences etc are already there. When another user
logs in to the same computer, it has to completely
refresh, check, and load settings etc... during login.

Had this problem myself...

Fixed it by making sure that the client's DNS settings
were pointing to my local DNS server. That way the DNS
server could point the clients straight to my Domain
Controller.

could be DNS , GPO or profile problems.
check the event viewer to see if there are any warnings.
