Win XP retail on top of (demised) OEM

Hi

My computer supplier compromised me on COA by installing Windows XP Pro
but failing to supply Microsoft media as required.

The supplier (Tiny/Time Computers via The Computer Shop in UK) soon
afterwards went out of business.

After contacting the receivers now some 3 months later = no joy & no
satisfaction.

However, my credit card company is very understanding about the whole
issue and has authorised me to pick up Microsoft Windows XP Pro and they
will stand the bill.

I'd like to go for a full retail version and wonder if installing a full
retail version on top of a demised OEM version with compromised COA
create any problems?

This computer now has 4 hard drives so changing to a new C: drive
shouldn't be too much of a bother. I may even go for one of the
super-duper Seagates at 70 Gig a 15,000 rpm (maybe 2? one for programs
and other for scratch?)

Keeping legit is important to me

TIA to any respondents

Simply run a repair install over the current install with the retail CD to
get legit and keep your current system intact.

As Larry suggested, repair install will do the trick. See link below for
some tips and points of cocern.

I think I'm gonna bite the bullet on this...

I will back up all data and go for a re-format and full install of the
retail version.

I don't know enough about repairs in XP and fear carry overs from the
OEM (demised) original install that may impact later on

(wish me luck :) )
