I have installed XP onto an old PC and plan to move it to
another newer PC. Are they any problems with this? What
procedures does Microsoft have to "uninstall" from one
computer and 'install' onto another?

If you used a retail copy of XP (and not one of the 'OEM' ones which
are licensed solely for the original machine and may not be
transferred), then remove it from machine 1 (eg format the disk) and
proceed to install on machine 2. When it comes to activation, you may
find it will go through on the net anyway - if more than 120 days since
you last did it certainly will. If not, you will have to phone a
toll-free number that will be given, to explain and swap one long number
for another to check back as you type it in
