i just built a new system, and i want to install my copy of win xp pro on it.
it is a raid sys with 4 Hitachi 250 gb hdd's. when i get about 1/4 the way
thru loading xp it will stop and restart then bsod comes up giving me the
error code 07b-0xf78da63c 0xc0000034 0x00000000 0x000000000. is this
because my copy of xp is old?
It's likely that WinXP doesn't have a driver for the RAID
controller built-in. Very early in the boot process, just after having
booted from the WinXP CD, the screen will display the words to the
effect: "Setup is examining your system." Press <F6> when this happens,
and have the *manufacturer's* WinXP-specific drivers for your RAID
controller available on a floppy disk.
Also, because of the size of your hard drives, be sure that you're
using an installation disk with at least Service Pack 1 (and SP2 is
strongly recommended) slip-streamed in. If you have one of the pre-SP1
installation CDs, create your own slip-streamed WinXP SP2 installation
CD. For slip-streaming the service pack and subsequent updates to WinXP:
