Win XP keeps crashing?

Hi all,

Im hoping someone out there can please help me with an
Internet Explorer problem I've been having for some
time. My PC crashes quite alot when Im surfing the net.
It happens when I try to link sites and is totally
random. I will be doing a search in a search engine like
yahoo click on a site I want to view and the whole system
shuts down and restarts. After reloading I occationaly
get the message "your system has recovered from a serious
error" message but most of the time there is no
explanation. Other times I can be online for hours
without fault and might only have Explorer say that it
needs to close because it has encounted problems...but it
doesn't restart.

This only happens when Im on the internet and my system
works perfectly when Im disconnected. I use an ADSL
connection and have an up to date Internet Security
program installed. My PC is clean of viruses and spyware
and says its health check is OK. Does anyone know whats
going on? Why is viewing websites so unstable for my
browser? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Is this a standalone pc (not on a home network)? If you are really,
really sure that your computer is virus and spyware-free, then here are
some possibilities: 1) nic is bad; 2) adsl modem is bad; 3) cable from
computer to modem is bad; 4) software from ISP for adsl is buggy.

This still looks to be a spware/adware problem. try to install [update] and
run Spybot & ad-aware program and check if that helps.

Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware

Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/

Also, when the error on IE comes up, it provides a more info on error
option, this will show the file that is causing the problem. Do a google on
that file and should help you find where the problem is.

Also, try to repair / update IE with the latest updates.
