Dear all

Running:
XP2200+
WinXP Home with all critical updates, etc
512Mb PC2100 RAM
Radeon 32Mb DDR AGP
40Gb Western Digital HD

Only used for 'office' type applications, so only need a fairly basic
machine

Problem: even though I'm the only user for this computer, I use a log in
screen so as to avoid my kids 'playing' around with the computer. Everything
starts just fine, I log in and away I go. The problem arises when I come to
shut down---I click on 'Start' -> 'turn off computer' -> 'turn off' and the
computer restarts instead of turning off. When the log in screen reappears I
can click to shut down and it shuts down perfectly.

So, it doesn't continually restart which might indicate a hardware problem,
I simply have to shut down twice as it restarts the first time.

Does anyone have any ideas???

thx in advance

Hi Jon,

Suggestions and Checkpoints:

This edit controls whether Windows should automatically power down or reboot
your computer once it has finished the shutdown process.

Power Off or Reboot After Shutdown (Line 76)

This edit automatically ends tasks and timeouts that prevent programs from
shutting down and clears the Paging File on Exit.
