Hi.

I downloaded and installed XP without any errors. When it rebooted however,
i can only get as far as the logon screen (without any names [admin, guest
etc]) to click on. I tried ctrl+alt+del a couple times and i get no results.
alt+f4 doesn't even do anything. i booted in safe mode; same results. I tried
to revert back to last good settings; nothing.

what can i do to fix this? I need my laptop back -_-

Hi

It seems as though you will have to perform a 'Repair' install of XP - if
LKGC doesn't work and you can't access Safe Mode. Have you got a
slipstreamed SP2 CD? If not you will have to use your original XP CD and
then updrade to SP2 after that. If you don't want to reinstall SP2, you may
have to go to Windows Update for SP1/1a.

I wouldn't lose the data already there would i? And could i use any XP CD or
do i have to get the one that came with it? (My Dad should have the cd; it's
his laptop.. >_<)

Hi

If you perform a 'Repair' install your files, programs and settings should
remain intact. It is better, if possible, to use the XP CD that was used
originally. The following article by Michael Stevens will help you with the
'Repair' install:

"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Any prolems, please post back.
