win xp home authentication

i try logging onto an xp home machine to authenticate
through a 2000 DC however it does not let me log on, i try
logging onto a 98 machine and i can log on.

I tried reseting password in active directory, enabled the
tick box "password never expires" and checked that i am a
member of domain admin. I also created a computer account
for the xp machine and that hasnt solved anything.

What do i do is there something that i need to configure
in group policy?

XP home cannot be a member of a domain. You will have to logon locally then
use your domain credentials to authenticate to resources.
