I am trying to install a scannner and software but an error message says I do not have win.ini files.
I did a search, but cannot find the file or folder in my computer or c drive.
how or where can i get these files and install them.
I have win2000 disc and searched it but also came up empty.

can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks.

Ask them for a Windows 2000 version. What you have is for win9x

Look in C:\WINNT win.ini is in there. If you still cannot find it then go to Start | Run | sysedit | OK. win.ini will be in one of the windows. The reason why your application is saying you do not have a win.ini is likely because it is looking for it in C:\Windows which is C:\WINNT in Windows 2000. It's actually a poor application that is hardcoded to look in C:\Windows and not %systemroot% unless of course it is specific to only Win95\Win98
