I keep getting an error message when I try to de-frag my disk saying that the
win.COR file is corrupt and I can not proceed to defrag the disk. I have
tried to change the file extension but I get the same message with the
changed file extension. I can not find the file using the explore function.

It would have been better if you'd kept to your original thread. Here

You may also need to do a Chkdsk /f

Make sure your data is backed up before using Chkdsk.
