Hi I am trying to re-install Win 2K professional with NTFS
file system and the message says that the only disc
partition can not be formatted. What can I try next?

you cannot format a "live" partition

merely bootup with your win2k cd

formatting the drive is one install option

Try deleting the partition, recreating it and then format.
