Win 2000 Pro will not log on

Paul

After changing the user password on the laptop due to an
expiration message, the system will not let me in with
either the user or administrator log on. When you hit
ctrl-alt-del & enter the username & password, it starts
to apply user settings, then save user settings & bring
me back to the log on screen.
Can any one give me an indication of how to fix this
problem?
 
Sounds like the default permissions have been changed on the windows
directory and subdirectories. You may have to install a second version of
the OS into a Winnt.tmp directory and change the permissions.
